Panasonic AG-3DA1 - Integrated twin-lens FULL HD 3D camera

With the same approximate weight and size of a 2D camcorder, the AG-3DA1 is easy to handle. It's also much easier to operate than a traditional 3D rig. As it doesn't require any adjustment of the left and right lens alignment such as vertical gap, size difference, rotation and luminance difference, this camera saves your production time on location.

Data files recorded onto a memory card are readily processed on Avid or FCP. With its excellent mobility, flexibility and low cost operation, the AG-3DA1 opens the door to 3D image production.

We also offer the Nano3D for hire - the world’s smallest professional 3D-HD portable recorder/player. Recording options include a 4:2:2 CODEC, with up to 280 Mbps data rate. 1080p30/25/24, 720p50/60, 1080i50/60 options, creating Quicktime (MOV) or MXF Files with Avid, Final Cut Pro & Premiere support.

3D work in progress...

Sweet 3D have recently finished working on a complex 3D project for the Volvo Ocean Race. Rick Deppe (Producer, Volvo Ocean Race) tells us about his experience working with Sweet 3D's Don Rutherford in such a challenging environment...

Our brief was to produce a ten minute promo for the Volvo Ocean Race in 3D to be be shown on a loop in a 90 seater mobile cinema/3D experience.

...Sounds great but after a few weeks of development work in all the areas - conceptual, creative and technical it started to become clear that we might have to re-think our shooting and field production strategy. We had the usual problem of a tight budget and a short schedule, we would need to make some tough decisions, quickly.

Along came Don with his Panasonic AG-3DA1 camera, after a brief demonstration of the cameras capabilities and having had the chance to review some footage in 3D we decided to move ahead in partnership with Sweet 3D. In combination with the dual Nano-Flash recording unit (100 mbps) and the the light form factor of Dons rig, we were able to quickly move from location to location and shoot scenes for our short film in a timely and efficient manner with the least impact on our busy subjects.

As the project is now moving into the post production phase and we get to see more and more of the footage, all indications are that our project will be a resounding success. Feedback from the client has been very positive and test screenings have been well received.

I'm not sure we could have completed the piece without the flexibility, high quality and affordability afforded to us by Don and his Panasonic AG-3DA1.
